Our Research

Social Motivation in Children

The goal of this study is to better understand differences in how children anticipate and process social and non-social information. To do this, we measure the natural brain activity of 3-11 year olds using a mesh cap as they watch a series of images containing toys, faces, and scrambled pictures. We are recruiting both typically developing children and those with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Specific Interests in Children

The goal of this study is to better understand how the reward system is involved in children’s particular interests (including restricted and repetitive interests in children with autism spectrum disorders; ASD). We measure the natural brain activity of 6-11 year olds using a mesh cap as they watch pictures that either contain their specific interests or the interests of other children. We are recruiting both typically developing children and those with a diagnosis of ASD.
